Curriculum & Instruction
Curriculum refers to information taught to students.
Instruction refers to teaching methods used to convey that information.
Curriculum materials are formally adopted by the Board on a six year cycle and any selection may be extended beyond that period as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
The Superintendent shall recommend to the Board curriculum materials that are the highest quality curriculum materials available based upon the following criteria:
curriculum materials that best match locally developed objectives.
curriculum materials that present the subject matter in the most effective manner
consistent with the school corporation’s philosophy of education.
curriculum materials that promote confidence and trust in the democratic principles upon
which our country is founded.
curriculum materials that refrain from partisan presentation of controversial issues.
curriculum materials that are not discriminatory in nature.
curriculum materials that are interesting, accurate, current, and appropriate.
