Food-Family-Fun!
National Night Out, paying tribute to our police officers and first responders, was another big success Tuesday night. Several families and individuals took advantage of free food and fun to learn more about the lives of those who serve and protect us daily. Thanks to our Clark-Pleasant Police Department, especially Officer Talia Adkins for organizing this year's event, and to all the CPCSC families who supported us. Also a special thanks to Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess and his staff for bringing in some heavy and sophisticated equipment for the public to get a close look at.

Clark-Pleasant Families,

Innovative-Groundbreaking Program Announced for WCHS!!!
A partnership is announced between Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation and The Howard Companies construction firm. “After 18 months of hard work and collaboration a ceremony was held at Whiteland Community High School this week where we were presented a check for 25,000 dollars to launch a civil construction pathway program”, says WCHS Principal, Duke Lines. The new civil construction pathway program will begin to equip Whiteland Community High School students with the skills and credentials necessary to be employable and ready to join the workforce or continue their certifications upon graduation.
The $25,000 contribution from Howard Companies goes straight into the program to help sponsor and pay for all necessary items for the students to be successful. “We realize that students should have the opportunity to start a career path and earn college credit while in high school. This partnership allows students to earn college credit and certification while in high school to start a career immediately after graduation," stated Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Cassandra Shipp. Dr. Shipp says students will begin hands-on experiences working in the construction trades while still in high school, paving the way for a bright and well-paying future immediately out of high school.
“The school corporation commends Howard Companies for this visionary approach to preparing students for successful careers and we look forward to our ongoing relationship”, stated CPCSC Superintendent Dr. Tim Edsell. Several students with interest in the program attended the check presentation ceremony.

The Clark-Pleasant School Board got a new member, Tuesday night. Patrick Guilfoy, a long-time educator, was sworn in during a special meeting at the administration building. Guilfoy will serve in the seat left vacant by the passing of board member, Dave Thompson.
He's been in education for the past 20 years 5 of which were at Clark-Pleasant. He's spent 10 years in the classroom as an elementary teacher, 2 years as an instructional coach, 3 years as an assistant principal, and is entering his 6th year as an elementary principal in Franklin Township. While in those roles he's also coached baseball, volleyball, and math bowl.
Guilfoy called it an exciting time to serve and give back at Clark-Pleasant. "I'm looking forward to this opportunity to support our educators to provide our students with the best learning opportunities. I want to continue to keep our district moving forward". He says the key to success will be the district's great facilities, currently under construction, preparing for growth, and continuing to recruit and retain the best educators for our students.
