WCHS student, Jack Kelsay, will compete in the National FFA Creed Speaking Contest, this week. He presented his speech to the school board Monday night. The original FFA Creed was written in 1928 and outlines the FFA organization's values and beliefs regarding the industry of agriculture, FFA membership, citizenship, and patriotism. Jack will be judged on his oral presentation of the creed and his response to questions about the meaning of the creed.

Big Fall Break for the Marching Warriors.
On Oct 5th we hosted the ISSMA Scholastic Prelims/Open Invitational here at WCHS and hosted over 2500 student musicians and thousands of their supporters in the stands. Saturday, back at WCHS, where we hosted groups again for the Whiteland Marching Band Invitational. The band performed in exhibition at the end of the night, but again stepped up their performance to receive their highest score of the season!
I can not express how thankful we are for our students...but to host these VERY large events takes an amazing amount of dedicated and AMAZING parents. We absolutely could not do this without them and the countless hours of preparation and work it takes to make contests successful opportunities for not only our students to perform, but the thousands of other students from schools across the state to have a quality educational experience on our campus.
I also would like to thank our administration at both the corporation and building level as well as our Athletic Department, Transportation Department, and custodial staff for all of their work as well. Continuing to hold these events in the construction chaos that is our campus was a challenge. It most definitely took a village.

Every year, Indigenous Peoples Day is a profound reminder to celebrate Indigenous communities’ rich cultures, traditions, and histories worldwide. In 2024, this day holds even more significance as it continues to gain worldwide recognition and respect. From vibrant cultural events to thought-provoking discussions on Indigenous issues, Indigenous Peoples Day is a time for reflection, understanding, and celebration.
We had an amazing Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) session on 10/3/24 with our dedicated staff and community partners! Together, we strengthened our ability to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges in young people. Thanks to the Project AWARE Grant we are able to offer this training for FREE!
Thank you to everyone who participated and for making mental health a priority in our community!

On Thursday, 5th-grade reading students, from Grassy Creek, attended the Mock Trial of the Big, Bad Wolf, presented by the seniors in Mrs. Holton's Government class at Whiteland High School. The students observed the trial and even participated in helping the jury decide who was guilty. Ultimately, Curly Pig was found guilty! After the trial, the seniors had a Q&A session with the fifth-grade students and also demonstrated a cool hand trick to help them remember the Bill of Rights.
"Dr. Edsell spent part of his Friday morning reading to kindergarten students in Mrs. Ostermeier's room at Grassy Creek. The book 'Caps for Sale' is one of the most popular picture books ever published. Children seem to love chanting along with the naughty monkeys."
