10 - W's Whiteland Girls Basketball takes down Perry Meridian! That makes back-to-back ten win seasons for the Warriors for the first time since 2020!

Pink Night! Friday night will be busy at WCHS. Our Girls basketball team is hosting their annual Pink Night fundraiser with all funds going to Pink Ribbon Connection: Pink Ribbon Connection is an Indianapolis-based charity whose staff and volunteers provide breast cancer survivors with one-on-one peer counseling, as well as offer emotional support and resources to anyone touched by breast cancer. Founded in 2006, the organization serves more than a 1,000 breast cancer survivors annually through patient resource packets, health fairs, and information sessions. There will be a number of gift baskets to be auctioned off throughout the night (silent auction), please come and check it out! The girls game starts at 6pm, and is followed by the boys varsity at 7:30pm. We will also be celebrating our Winter Homecoming as well. It should be a great night, we would love to see as many people there as possible. Reminder, if you are CPCSC employee, your ID will get you and your spouse into the game for FREE!

Indiana All-State Honor Choir! The Indiana All-State Honor Choir performance at the Ft. Wayne Embassy Theatre, last week, had students from WCHS for the first time in a few years. Taylor Darnell, Zach Kaylor, and Emma Weiss. went through a rigorous audition process and have been rehearsing throughout the year leading up to their performance at the Indiana Music Education Association conference. They performed alongside 250 of the best singers in the state..

100/1000 Days!!! Yesterday was 100 days of school for kindergarten and 1000 days of school for 5th graders at Grassy Creek!

CPCSC STAFF SPOTLIGHT #1 Jennifer Lulfs 4th Grade Teacher at WES Jennifer Lulfs has been teaching since the turn of the century, 2000, to be exact. After graduating from Ball State University, with two degrees, one in elementary education another in special education K-12, her first teaching position was in Terre Haute. She’s taught not only elementary students but middle and high school as well. Today she is a fourth-grade teacher at Whiteland Elementary where she’s been for the past 13-years. She interacts with about 60 students per day. Her greatest accomplishment; “It’s when kids come back many years later and say I love reading today because of the things we read in your class many years ago”, says Mrs. Lulfs. She says she really enjoys seeing kids understand that when they can read everything is possible. Something you may not know about her is that she spent two years living in Europe in the city of Llantwit Major Wales while her husband was working there. Her two oldest children are attending Purdue and her youngest attends Fortune Academy in Lawrence. While she loves teaching and has dedicated her life to it she says there are major challenges in teaching kids today. “The biggest challenge is kids are tech savvy which can be a good thing”, she says. “The bad part about that is that they are used to being highly entertained at the touch of a button. School takes longer than 30 seconds to learn something; it takes grit and determination to inspire students to become lifelong learners”. She encourages new teachers to quickly gain an understanding that kids come from very diverse backgrounds and are at very different levels of comprehension. Part of that she says is that students come from all over the world. Still she says pushing them, stretching them and challenging them has to take place daily. She says if there are not expectations there may not be the outcomes that are desired. When asked what she likes about WES she says it’s a small enough school that it feels like a family.
