Innovative-Groundbreaking Program Announced for WCHS!!!
A partnership is announced between Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation and The Howard Companies construction firm. “After 18 months of hard work and collaboration a ceremony was held at Whiteland Community High School this week where we were presented a check for 25,000 dollars to launch a civil construction pathway program”, says WCHS Principal, Duke Lines. The new civil construction pathway program will begin to equip Whiteland Community High School students with the skills and credentials necessary to be employable and ready to join the workforce or continue their certifications upon graduation.
The $25,000 contribution from Howard Companies goes straight into the program to help sponsor and pay for all necessary items for the students to be successful. “We realize that students should have the opportunity to start a career path and earn college credit while in high school. This partnership allows students to earn college credit and certification while in high school to start a career immediately after graduation," stated Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Cassandra Shipp. Dr. Shipp says students will begin hands-on experiences working in the construction trades while still in high school, paving the way for a bright and well-paying future immediately out of high school.
“The school corporation commends Howard Companies for this visionary approach to preparing students for successful careers and we look forward to our ongoing relationship”, stated CPCSC Superintendent Dr. Tim Edsell. Several students with interest in the program attended the check presentation ceremony.

New Administrators Announced!
Three new administrative positions were announced during Wednesday evening's school board meeting.
Andrea Lakin will become the new Director of Special Education. Nicole Osborne will lead the new K-5 Trauma & Behavioral Program and Steffen Lewis was named Assistant Principal at Whiteland Elementary. Congratulations!

On this Thankful Thursday, I want to say "Thank You!" to Dr. Edsell, Dr. Shipp, and the Clark-Pleasant Community School Board for surprising me last night at the school board meeting with an award for Recognition Of Excellence in Education. I went to the school board meeting to share an annual review of all the wonderful things CPEF has done this last school year and to hear my contract for an additional role I will be doing this upcoming school year get voted it, but I was completely unaware that I was also getting an award. What a wonderful surprise! I am so grateful of all the recognition I have received from the school in the last month. I am truly honored.

A Statement Regarding the Passing of Clark-Pleasant School Board Member, Dave Thompson.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of School Board Member, Dave Thompson. Dave was not only a school board member but a man who was passionate about and fought for the constant improvement of educational opportunities in this school corporation. His mission was first and foremost to prepare our students for life but as a full-time teacher and coach for 40 years, he also spoke up for the rights of teachers, administrators, and Clark-Pleasant families.
Dave held the Pleasant Township seat on the board and just last year had served as board president. He attended Indiana State University, obtaining bachelor's and master’s degrees in Education. He taught at Clark-Pleasant Middle School for 39 years and coached high school wrestling and football for 40 years. As a coach, he is a member of the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. He had 4 wrestling state champions during his tenure as coach.
Dave and his wife, Susan, a long-time English teacher at Whiteland Community High School, have two daughters, Brooke and Brette. Brooke teaches English at WCHS and serves as president of The Clark-Pleasant Education Association (CPEA). Brette, who also taught Biology at WCHS lives with her family in Fort Wayne. Mr. Thompson also leaves behind Isabella, Eleanor, and Vivian, his granddaughters.
“I will miss Dave Thompson. If you looked in the dictionary under “educator”, Dave’s name would be there”, says superintendent, Dr. Timothy Edsell. “He was a teacher, coach, mentor, and board member but most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. No one loved Clark-Pleasant Schools more than Dave Thompson”. Fellow board member and friend for 50 years, “Butch” Zike says all of Dave’s students thought the world of him, “Dave’s goals were not based on winning and losing but on making a kid’s life better”, said Zike. He says the school board will especially miss Dave’s common sense.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Thompson family.
Sincerely,
Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation.
