Cool Art News!
Iris (Jackson) Cook, grade 12, won the Johnson County Public Library teen art contest for the 10th-12th grade category. Iris submitted a face mask sculpture entitled 'Iris in Bloom'.
Iris also had a ceramic slab box selected to be featured in a juried show in November at IU Bloomington. This piece was entitled "My Prison Box".
Iris was able to incorporate quite a bit of deeper meaning into the pieces and it's always cool seeing our students being able to be featured outside of school.

**CPCSC / CPPD Welcomes Casper the Friendly Firearms Detection Canine!**
The Clark-Pleasant Police Department (CPPD) has enhanced school and public safety through a partnership with Redemption Ranch K-9 and the Plainfield Police Department by welcoming a new K-9 officer, Casper.
Casper, a Husky, was officially introduced during the school board meeting on Monday evening. His acquisition is a result of a generous collaboration with Redemption Ranch K9, a non-profit organization dedicated to turning shelter dogs into highly trained police canines. These previously abandoned and overlooked dogs receive the love, care, and positive reinforcement they need to thrive and serve their communities.
"Ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and the entire community is our top priority," said Chief Chad Pryce of the Clark-Pleasant Police Department. "By adding this new K-9 unit to our team, we are taking proactive steps to create a safer environment for everyone."
After being sworn in on Monday night, Casper will continue training with his handler and begin active service today. He will play a crucial role in enhancing school safety, public security, and the ability to respond to potential firearm-related threats in the community.
The young man who got to swear in Casper is Evan Brenneman, who Chief Pryce made the honoary chief for the night. He has aspirations to someday be a K-9 officer. He helped to train Casper, as part of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
