Tuesday, our full-day pre-k students voted! They used the GCES voting stations, were presented with a choice, and then submitted their vote. Fruit Snacks won the CPELC election; as expected, there were some tender feelings after however an I voted sticker seemed to help.

Since the ELC doesn’t go on field trips, we brought an experience to it! On Tuesday, students visited the “CPELC Pumpkin Patch” in the GCES Courtyard. Each student picked a pumpkin and painted it. Before leaving, kids and staff posed for a photo. It was a fun, fall day!

In Mrs. Lindsay Hackett's classroom, during her table-top Play-Doh activity, students used Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to communicate with peers and practice vocabulary. This is an authentic and inclusive experience for our youngest learners who are learning language skills. This would not be possible without the support and training from CPELC's Speech and Language Pathologist, Erika Sasher. Some vocabulary we targeted included colors, shapes, core words, and verbs! (Roll, make, cut, play, etc.) What a fun morning it was!

Clark-Pleasant Leaders Join Governor for Signing of House Bill 1104 Clark-Pleasant leaders recently stood alongside the Honorable Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb at the Statehouse for the signing of House Bill 1104. Dr. Edsell, Chief Chad Pryce, and Officer Shari Mullins were invited as guests of State Representative Michelle Davis. The bill sets guidelines for safety plans during armed intruder drills and allows School Police Departments to participate in the 1977 Police Pension Plan. Officer Mullins and Chief Pryce previously testified in support of the bill in the Senate and House. This new provision is expected to benefit school resource officers both personally and professionally, aiding in the recruitment and retention of experienced and qualified Police Officers.
