Clark-Pleasant Leaders Join Governor for Signing of House Bill 1104 Clark-Pleasant leaders recently stood alongside the Honorable Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb at the Statehouse for the signing of House Bill 1104. Dr. Edsell, Chief Chad Pryce, and Officer Shari Mullins were invited as guests of State Representative Michelle Davis. The bill sets guidelines for safety plans during armed intruder drills and allows School Police Departments to participate in the 1977 Police Pension Plan. Officer Mullins and Chief Pryce previously testified in support of the bill in the Senate and House. This new provision is expected to benefit school resource officers both personally and professionally, aiding in the recruitment and retention of experienced and qualified Police Officers.

We had our first bus evacuation drill today so we could practice how to safely get all students off the bus in the event of an emergency blocking the front entry. It was great to see our older students take on the leadership role and help our younger students safely exit the bus! Way to show the Warrior Way!

4th grade kids had their first room transformation of the year!! We pulled out some red table cloths, snacks, and some delicious books for them to try out a book from all sorts of different genres. The kids had the opportunity in Mrs. Ridgway’s room to try out “nonfiction nachos” and “fantasy fruit salad” before switching to Mrs Walters’s room for “historical fiction hamburgers” and “mystery mousse”.

On this Thankful Thursday, I want to say "Thank You!" to Dr. Edsell, Dr. Shipp, and the Clark-Pleasant Community School Board for surprising me last night at the school board meeting with an award for Recognition Of Excellence in Education. I went to the school board meeting to share an annual review of all the wonderful things CPEF has done this last school year and to hear my contract for an additional role I will be doing this upcoming school year get voted it, but I was completely unaware that I was also getting an award. What a wonderful surprise! I am so grateful of all the recognition I have received from the school in the last month. I am truly honored.

A Statement Regarding the Passing of Clark-Pleasant School Board Member, Dave Thompson. With deep sadness, we announce the passing of School Board Member, Dave Thompson. Dave was not only a school board member but a man who was passionate about and fought for the constant improvement of educational opportunities in this school corporation. His mission was first and foremost to prepare our students for life but as a full-time teacher and coach for 40 years, he also spoke up for the rights of teachers, administrators, and Clark-Pleasant families. Dave held the Pleasant Township seat on the board and just last year had served as board president. He attended Indiana State University, obtaining bachelor's and master’s degrees in Education. He taught at Clark-Pleasant Middle School for 39 years and coached high school wrestling and football for 40 years. As a coach, he is a member of the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. He had 4 wrestling state champions during his tenure as coach. Dave and his wife, Susan, a long-time English teacher at Whiteland Community High School, have two daughters, Brooke and Brette. Brooke teaches English at WCHS and serves as president of The Clark-Pleasant Education Association (CPEA). Brette, who also taught Biology at WCHS lives with her family in Fort Wayne. Mr. Thompson also leaves behind Isabella, Eleanor, and Vivian, his granddaughters. “I will miss Dave Thompson. If you looked in the dictionary under “educator”, Dave’s name would be there”, says superintendent, Dr. Timothy Edsell. “He was a teacher, coach, mentor, and board member but most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. No one loved Clark-Pleasant Schools more than Dave Thompson”. Fellow board member and friend for 50 years, “Butch” Zike says all of Dave’s students thought the world of him, “Dave’s goals were not based on winning and losing but on making a kid’s life better”, said Zike. He says the school board will especially miss Dave’s common sense. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Thompson family. Sincerely, Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation.
